University of Alberta

The UofA and WUN

The University of Alberta joined the Worldwide Universities Network (WUN) in Fall 2008 after receiving a formal invitation to become a member institution.

The University of Alberta is committed to taking full advantage of WUN by encouraging and supporting involvement in research collaboration, research mobility for faculty and graduate students, and the virtual seminar program.

There are a number of collaborative activities underway with the University of Alberta actively engaged in the four Global Challenge projects that have been initiated by the WUN: Adapting to Climate Change, Understanding Cultures, Global Higher Education and Research, and Global Public Health and Non-communicable Disease. It is anticipated that a small amount of seed funding will be available in 2013 to support joint research and travel linked to WUN partners.

The University of Alberta is also chairing the Steering Group for the Global Public Health and Non-communicable disease challenge, and for President Indira Samarasekera assumed the Chair of the Partnership Board in January 2012.
